Postnuptial Depression?

Time recently did an article about postnuptial depression which I find really interesting because after our wedding last May I was a little sad that all of my hard work for the year leading up to our wedding, was done in one night. I will admit it, I even got a little teary eyed towards the end of the evening; 1) that it was over with 2) that our wedding turned out more amazing than I thought it ever could be and 3) when are we ever going to get all of our favorite people in the world back to Jamaica with us??? At the end of it all, I realized it was more of a happy sadness than depression ( a bit of a fancy problem if you will) and I bounced back to marital bliss pretty quickly. But I am wondering....

Have any of you ever felt postnuptial depression???

I don't know if I really have had any hit yet but I'm still trying to get all the pictures from other people and the pros.

It may be a different story when I am literally done with everything for it. Or in the mean time I'll keep looking for a great new hobby.

my mom and i both experienced it. i was more sad that she and i weren't able to talk about the wedding every single day anymore. i was definitely happy, but i loved wedding planning, so there was some let down when it was all over knowing that i'd never get to do it again.

The first full day of the honeymoon it rained all day. I cried and was very upset about the rain, but in actuality I was bummed the wedding was all over. I bounced back pretty quickly, but that first day was kind of hard in a weird way.

I definitely experienced a bit of a letdown after the wedding. I described it to friends as being like a train that was moving 80 mph and then just suddenly stopped. I was also sad that we probably wouldn't get another chance to bring all of our friends and family together at once. But it went away after a few weeks, particularly once I had another project to focus my energy towards.

that is so interesting. i am loving daydreaming about the wedding so much that i'm already thinking how sad i'll be when i can't anymore. i guess then it's on to babies!

I wasn't sad that the wedding was over so much as I was sad that it would be a while before ALL of the same people would be in the same room again. Good times.

I hope it won't happen to me. Hope so!

Blue-eyed-bride, you're lucky your mom was interested in your wedding. I thought that your mother's interest in your wedding was kind of a given, but am finding that both my parents want very little to do with the wedding and have commented several times in the past few months that they wish I had taken the money they gave me for the wedding (that's ONE involvement they had) and eloped and used the money as part of a down payment on a house. I had to drag my mother out to try on wedding dresses with me. I know I'm throwing a bit of a pity party, but this whole thing was such a bummer to me that I have PREnuptial Depression. I've become depressed about the whole prospect and want to skip the whole thing and just get on with the marriage part. Anyone else had this experience?

You girls are not alone. I feel suicidal after 15 days living with my husband.

Hey Liz - I am a bit worried about your comment. I have tried to get to your blog but can't reach you. Getting married is a huge step in all of our lives and a major emotional adjustment. We all go through hard times. I hope you are doing okay and just hang in there. If you need someone to talk to please email me at thoughtfuldayblog@gmail.com.
