I absolutely love these ceramics from Royal Goedewaagen. They are smart, beautiful and the painted details are perfectly placed. The Dutch are the best when it comes to ceramics, and well, okay, most design in my opinion!

Stitched Porcelain

A friend recently bought us these salt and pepper cellars as a housewarming gift and they couldn't be any more lovely in person. They are precious and I absolutely love Rae Dunn's botany vases!

Watercolored Porcelain

Ruth Gurvich's hand painted porcelain pieces for Nymphenburg just might be the most beautiful pottery I've ever seen. The transparent colors overlapping one another are the most beautiful painted application to pottery I've seen to date. It almost feels like a watercolor painting folded to make a piece of pottery. Oh how I would love to own a set of these one day.

A Touch of Gold

Recently I came across a gorgeous little wedding on the Readymade blog. And I thought to myself, wait, I went to school with that person! So I emailed Lynn, who is a very talented designer living in Philly, and asked her if she minded if I put her photos up on my blog.

Lynn & Scott's wedding is a true reflection of a couple with a "maker" spirit. Every little detail & notion was made and thought of with love. Lynn made her reception dress & hairpiece and necklace! How perfectly polished is her look? Love the brown waistband. And then onto the table decor - the gorgeous Red Wing plates, surrounded with lace & gold ribbon with touches of pale turquoise are perfectly arranged & placed. The tree branch names cards are also quite brilliant. The dessert bar with the tree logs definitely proves that you don't need a fancy pants cake stand to wow your guests. And have you ever seen gold foil cupcake wrappers look so good?

I've always loved Perch, but I've never owned any of their pieces. Lately I've been thinking about buying Lyla one of these letter light pendants. How cute are they? I would love to spell out her whole name, but that may take quite a few years to complete...

I need these ceramics by Up In The Air Somewhere. Okay, so I don't really need them, but I am such a fan of subtle and uneven details on ceramics, that this little bit of gold on the rim along with the imperfect surfaces took my breath away. Absolute perfection. Our wedding anniversary is coming up in a couple of months, maybe I will add these to my list...

A Modern Farm Wedding

Over the last 6 months, I have exchanged quite a few emails with fellow bride and blogger Christina of A Farm Fresh Wedding. She and her husband just got married earlier this Fall at Blue Hill at Stone Barns, one of my most favorite places on earth! For any bride looking to get married there, she has posted a really great question and answer about her experiences there.




The nosey blogger in me then went to her very talented photographer, Sarah Sloboda's blog and saw these amazing detail shots of some of the ceramic pieces Christina herself created for their wedding. So lovely, I can't wait to see more pics!

Lladró

I absolutely love these incredibly detailed and delicate porcelain figurines by Lladró. I saw them last week over at Future Perfect in Williamsburg. What a nice little wedding gift to give or to receive. I wish I could give it, and I dream of receiving it!

Paloma's Nest

Patrick and I have had so many ideas for favors the past couple of months. I think these little ceramic tiles from Etsy seller Paloma's Nest would be perfect for our wedding. We need our favors to be small, and easily packable as we have to bring them down to Jamaica with us in our suitcases. We still have to finalize the copy, but I think we have a pretty good idea of what we want them to say...

Marie Torbensdatter Hermann

I love the work of Marie Torbensdatter Hermann, her shapes and use of color appear to be very minimal and subtle, but when put in an installation like the top image, the scattered repetition of color, shape and height is nothing but beautiful.

Jonathan Adler : Brooklyn Design / Modernism Young Designer of the Year

Last week I attended the Modernism Show at the Park Avenue Armory (unfortunately the show ended on the 19th) and was excited to see Jonathan Adler recognized with the Brooklyn Museum / Modernism Young Designer of the Year award. Exhibited were some of Jonathan's beautiful ceramic pieces from his early years to present day. The display was beautifully and delightfully presented at the entrance of the show.
